I Care I Cure mentioned on CNN

On May 21, 2009, I Care I Cure co-founder, Beth Besner was interviewed on Court TV on the issue of the Hauser family in Minnesota who refused to allow their 13 year-old son receive further lymphoma treatments due to the pain and toxicity. Besner said that she "feels for the family" having the untenable choice of choosing painful treatments or choosing unproven herbal remedies. Besner's opinion is that if the public gives its attention and pushes for research funding, gentler cures will be found and treatments for childhood cancer will be a better choice for families like the Hausers.

We Started an I Care I Cure Blog -- Join Us

Dear I Care I Cure visitors -- we just posted our blog and will work hard to keep you up to date with how we are doing in achieving our mission of working towards gentler and less toxic cures for childhood cancer. We established I Care I Cure in 2007 to honor our beautiful son, Ian, who died only 4 months after diagnosis for leukemia. While Ian was in remission after 15 days, he continued to receive high doses of toxic chemotherapy which destroyed his immunities. When he was exposed to meningitis, he had no defenses to fight it off. Simply put, the cures that were supposed to cure him, killed him. And there are too many stories like Ian's.

We started I Care I Cure to raise fund for important ground breaking research that will lead to treatments that will kill the cancer and not the kid. These targeted therapies will go after specific triggering cancer targets within cancer cells without damaging healthy cells. This is what our kids need to have a better quality of life during and after treatment. Childhood Cancer is the largest cause of death of children by disease and yet childhood cancer is dramatically underfunded because kids can't advocate for themselves. All parents must advocate for childhood cancer because it can strike any child at any time. We look forward to sharing our progress with you on this blog.

Make sure to tell us how you like our site and how we can improve it. And please go to our facebook page (look up I Care I Cure and you'll find it) and share our foundation with your family and friends so more people learn how they can make a difference. And click the picture below to register for our upcoming I Care I Cure. . . I Run on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Markham Park in Sunrise, Florida.
